About

My art explores many themes, and styles. I get inspiration from music and many life experiences.

From abstraction to figuration my art has no limits.

Born in Dublin, and raised in portlaoise, the urban and natural world has definitely influenced my work. From a young age I was always very creative and there was never a moment I did not carry my sketchbook with me. Having growing up being surrounded by my father’s art in his local art gallery, I grew curious of all the different artistic styles. Abstraction talked to me. It fed into my life from a young age and now I find myself coming back to it more often as I can see the meanings behind why someone wants to represent a landscape for example in an abstract manner.

Artists like Sean Scully, Picasso, Louis Le Brocquy and Freud all are great inspirations to my work. Even Damien Hirst has inspired some of my skull drawings. However, I take more inspiration from music than I do from what another artist is doing. Music creates worlds for me. I try to depict these worlds in visual language. As I make my art in my studio I always listen to music from Hans Zimmer to The War on Drugs, it gives me life. If you want to see some examples of my work go ahead and click right through to the gallery and you can find a wide collection there.

My story

I took to art most seriously when I got fired from my job in fashion retail. I had worked for over a year and switched to a new job and after one month in my new position I got fired. I used to play my own music in the shop and also draw when the store was empty but I got fired because the store was underperforming, it closed down just before the pandemic hit.

I always knew art was my calling and that time seemed no better than any other to pick up the paints and paint again. I decided to buy a few canvases and paints from the local shop and soon as the restrictions came to play I began painting and making art everyday. My art was shared in online collective called #IMMAInsideOut by the official IMMA instagram page and soon I began to sell my work online. I exhibited my work in my local gallery the Dunamaise Center Portlaoise. I took a break from art then as soon as things came back to normality, I focused on my studies for two years from 2021 until now. Having gained more knowledge about digital marketing I feel like I am ready to make a new mark on the digital landscape of what it means to be an artist online. I am currently a recipient of the basic income for the arts awarded by The Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.

My Mission

My mission as an artist is to be the best version of an artist I can be. I explore as many themes as I virtually can, from abstract faces to realistic self portraits there is great variety in my work.
